Also right across the Hudson River from Manhattan is another Hudson County gem in Jersey City. Nestled just south of Hoboken and north of Liberty State Park, Downtown Jersey City refers to the neighborhood that is closest to the river and extends westward to the NJ Turnpike extension.
Known for it’s great neighborhoods and scenic waterfront, Downtown Jersey City offers a wide array of great restaurants, pubs and most importantly large parks. Van Vorst and Hamilton Park are the two prominent parks that anchor each end of the area and are both square parks surrounded by beautiful brownstones. Newport and Exchange Place are the redeveloped waterfront areas that play host to the taller residential towers, hotels and office buildings.
Grab a drink with friends at Zeppelin Hall or pop by Razza for some of their famous wood-burning pizza on your walk home from the PATH. Or you can simply take a stroll down Newark Avenue which has been set up as a pedestrian walkway since 2015.
