Jersey City Heights Real Estate Overlooking Hoboken

    About Jersey City Heights

Living right above Hoboken, Jersey City Heights is exactly what it sounds like. With its breathtaking and scenic views of all of Manhattan, the Heights is a neighborhood that allows you to take a step back and enjoy the view from atop the New Jersey Palisades.

Most of the homes in the area are in  two- and three-family detached houses that live on small lots and dominate the housing market here. There are also many low-rise apartment buildings in the neighborhood. You can find old Victorian and Edwardian houses scattered throughout the streets of the Heights with rental apartments inside, especially on Sherman Place and Summit Avenue.

Jersey City Heights is named for its elevation atop the Palisades, which is a 20-mile stretch of steep cliffs along the banks of the Hudson River. Because Jersey City Heights and many of the apartments here stand at the peak of the hills, most of the area can enjoy unblocked views of Hoboken and the Hudson River, as well as Midtown NYC and the Upper West Side skyline.

    No Shortage of Outdoor Space

There are a number of small parks in the Heights, including the Leonard Gordon Park, which is home to Solon Hannibal Borglum’s oversized Buffalo and Bears sculpture and Riverview/Fisk Park which is on the top of the cliffs and has panoramic views of the NYC skyline.

Washington Park is decked out with little league fields, several basketball courts, nine tennis courts, and more. Plans are also underway for a multi-purpose field with an artificial surface for soccer and football.

Pershing Field has a running track, playing fields, and ball courts with a semi-Olympic size swimming pool that turns into a skating rink in the winter. Also in the Heights you’ll find the Jersey City Reservoir, which allows residents to enjoy kayaking days free of charge. There is plenty of shopping and local restaurants, with much of the commercial activity on and around Central Avenue. You can also check out our Art Gallery – PRIME Gallery — which embraces the robust Jersey City art scene and is a fully operational art gallery housed within our second office right in the Heights.

Commuting to NYC from Jersey City Heights

Commuting to NYC from Jersey City Heights is easy due to several public transportation options, including the Hudson-Bergen Light Rail (which can get you to PATH stations) and New Jersey Transit buses, which travel as far as New York City’s Port Authority or to other areas throughout NJ. The Light Rail doesn’t actually travel through the Heights, but there is an elevator that runs along the side of the Palisades that will take you to the station that runs along the western border of Hoboken. This elevator is a popular hub among locals as it allows them quick and seamless access into Hoboken.
